I hope everyone enjoyed their first day of Congress yesterday! Be sure to make the most of your time this week: check the Congress Schedule or the Congress App to find out where and when events are taking place. And don’t forget to pose for a picture near our new “Welcome Home” banners on D Street!
There are lots of fun and interesting events scheduled for today. You can attend a Flag Raising ceremony on the 18th Street flagpole in front of Constitution Hall at 12 p.m. The genies in attendance won’t want to miss a special program, “News You Can Use – ‘Shooting Stars’ from the Office of the Registrar General,” this afternoon in the O’Byrne Gallery from 1 to 3 p.m. It will feature speakers covering unique genealogy topics. Speaking of genealogy, the Balcony Volunteers will be available in the DAR Library and at the JW Marriott starting tomorrow to help you tackle your toughest genealogy issues; check the schedule for details.
Today I’m attending the Gift Acceptance Ceremony organized by the Office of Development. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet with – and thank – those who have donated physical objects to the Society. So much of our collection and our Headquarters depend upon generous donors like these.
