Congress Reminders!

Pamela Wright, President General

The 132nd Continental Congress is nearly here! But, before you travel to National Headquarters in Washington D.C., please review these important reminders!

  • We planned a great lineup of honorees and speakers for you this year! Click here to learn about our featured presenters and award winners for our evening ceremonies.
  • Download the Congress app via the App Store or Google Play to your smartphone or tablet to have all the Congress information at the tip of your fingers—you can even create your own custom schedule. Click here to find out how to install the app.
  • Take a look at the Congress schedule for an overview of all the exciting events taking place throughout the week.
  • Visit the online Congress Insider’s Guide to view the Congress Standing Rules, the State of the Society, proposed bylaw amendments, the Congress Herald and more.
  • Check-in and on-site registration are available starting Monday, June 26 from 11 a.m. through 6 p.m. in the We the People Dining Hall on the lower level of the Administration building. See the rest of the week’s registration hours in the Congress Schedule.
  • Delegates have assigned seating in Constitution Hall. Remember to be in your seats early before the evening ceremonies begin so that you can enjoy the band concert that starts at 7 p.m. All seats are considered open once the doors open to general admission ticket holders.
  • Wear your layers! Keep in mind that sometimes Headquarters can get chilly. Because it is a historic building trying to cool down from the summer heat, more areas in the building are colder than others. So, it is a good idea to bring a light jacket, sweater, or wrap. Wearing layers is key! Be ready for the indoors to be cool and the outdoors to be hot!
  • Get ready to shop ‘til you drop! This week you can find terrific gifts and other special items! In the Constitution Hall Lobby, you will find the DAR Insignia Store, the Junior Shoppe, the Museum shop, and President General’s Project Sales. Additionally, the President General’s Project Sales will be located in the JW Marriott lobby. In the Texas Lone Star Lounge at Constitution Hall, you will also find the Congress shops with their wide array of specialty vendors. Finally, don’t miss DAR Store on the lower level of the Administration Building.
  • Looking for something to eat? There are plenty of convenient options for food near Headquarters – find some of them here. There will be water stations located around Headquarters and vending machines will be located in the dressing rooms on the lower level of Constitution Hall.
  • Be certain to stop by the DAR Museum Gallery to explore the items on display in the Study Gallery and the current exhibit, Pleasing Truths: Power and Portraits in the American Home, which focuses on 18th and 19th century portraits found in American homes.
  • Fill out a Continental Congress Press Release Request form so that your local media can be alerted to your members’ presence at Congress.
  • Follow along with Congress Social Media on Facebook and Instagram and use the hashtags #TodaysDARCC #ShareMyDARCC23 #DARCC23 when posting about Congress.
  • Learn more about the 132nd Continental Congress Candidates for National Office. This year we will be holding elections for the Office of Vice President General and Honorary Vice President General.

I can’t wait to Celebrate Stars and Stripes Forever with you at the 132nd Continental Congress! If you are unable to make it this year, you can follow along virtually with the Congress Herald and the Congress session livestream. Just a few more days until we can all sparkle together!
