Welcome Home! Check-in and On-site Registration Now Open!

Denise Doring VanBuren, President General

It is (finally!) time to celebrate! I am thrilled to welcome you back to your National Headquarters for the 131st Continental Congress. After three long years apart, the time has come to rejoice in our shared accomplishments and to enjoy the $15 million restoration of DAR Constitution Hall. I am so pleased that thousands of you are able to join us for this historic occasion in person -- and that thousands more will surely join us online for all of our official sessions in the Hall. Huzzah!

Pre-registered Congress attendees may check in on-site throughout today (11 a.m. through 6 p.m.). At check-in, each attendee receives her welcome packet (which contains the official Congress Program), Congress Insider’s Guide and an ID badge. Refer to these items and the Congress App to find maps and information for all our exciting events this week. Didn’t have a chance to pre-register, and still wish to attend? Just head down to the We the People Dining Hall in the lower level of the Administration Building to experience our new seamless on-site registration and check-in process.

It has already been a joy to reconnect with friends as they have begun to arrive in Washington, D.C. Official events kicked off this morning, when we placed a wreath in tribute to all of the Daughters who have gone before us in the beautiful Mississippi Garden on D Street. I have joined with our National Board of Management for the final formal meeting of our administration, followed by a luncheon in the Banquet Hall. A highlight of this evening will be gathering with those who have served as State Regents, Vice Presidents General and Executive Officers for the always-enjoyable National Officers Club Banquet.

No matter if this is your first or your fiftieth Congress, please explore your National Headquarters. Visit our DAR Museum Gallery and Period Rooms and be sure to stop by the DAR Library. In fact, balcony volunteers will be available there and at the JW Marriott starting tomorrow to help you tackle your toughest genealogy issues; check the schedule for details. Be sure to visit our beautiful new DAR Store. And don’t forget to thank all of our hard-working employees throughout the building for their commitment to keeping our Society moving forward during the pandemic.

If you are joining us virtually this week, you can find the livestreams on the Congress Website here. I encourage you to also connect with us on social media on Facebook and Instagram and view photos here. For those of us who are here in person, please also be sure to share your best Congress photos via the hashtags #DARCC22 #ShareMyDARCC22!

Lastly, we are running a special promotion this week for subscriptions to DAR’s award winning American Spirit Magazine – this week only, you can purchase a 3-year subscription for only $45. Support our publications and take advantage of this special limited offer! Click here to purchase a subscription.

We have so much of which to be proud – please join me to celebrate our many accomplishments and the joy of being together – in person and in service to our nation. It’s going to be a great week!
